BANANARAMA Movin' On (London)
Echoes, 08-Aug-1992
The girls are back with Stock & Waterman after their musically superior
but commercially less successful period with Youth. This sounds like an Abba
classic without the class and is only here because of two Tony Humpheries dubs
which ride a lovely bassline.

And then there were two... Bananarama's 27th hit in all, and their first as
a duo, original members Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward opting not to replace
Jacqui O'Sullivan. Produced by Pete Waterman & Mike Stock - who, together
with their former partner Matt Aitken, piloted the group to many of their previous
hits - 'Movin' On' is the first single from an album due this autumn.

The Nanas have decided to move on by moving back in time 20 years and ripping
off Abba. Trouble is, the Abba-esque bandwagon has been done to death by Erasure
so this all sounds a bit copy-cattish. What next girls, Beatles haircuts? (1

PICK
OF THE WEEK: BANANARAMA Movin' On (London)
Music Week 01-Aug-1992. Reviewer: Alan Jones
Down to a duo now, and reunited with former producers Stock and Waterman (similarly
slimmed down by Matt Aitken's departure), Bananarama return with an impossibly
commercial reminder of their former glories. Movin' On they ain't, but hitbound
they most certainly are.
