The second single issued from Pop Life was the infectious Preacher Man which peaked at #20 in the UK charts (the best selling single from that album). The single sleeve was originally designed for Tripping On Your Love but the decision to change to Preacher Man was made with such haste that there was no opportunity to reshoot the photos or redesign the sleeve, so the title lettering was supplanted to read Preacher Man. Two 12" singles were issued - the first with two remixes by Shep Pettibone, the second 12" featured another Shep remix (Ramabanana Alternative Mix which was also on the Pop Life CD) and sweet exorcist remix of Tripping On Your Love

". . . and of course it was the second single. We'd originally planned for Tripping On Your Love to be the second single, but when we came up with this we changed our minds because we thought it would make a better follow up to Only Your Love" (Sarah, 1991)

"[on being asked why Preacher Man was the 2nd single] because when London Records heard Preacher Man they thought it was more of a sure-fire hit. Tripping will be the third single. We preferred it ourselves, but there you go . . . the games people play. Having said that, Preacher Man is a great track and I really enjoyed singing it, especially on the Des O'Connor Christmas Show! . . . great fun. Paul Cook from the Sex Pistols drummed with us on the show. He drummed on our very first single and it was his idea to get the group together so it was good to have him back. He'll be with us for TV appearances and perhaps when we tour." (Sarah, 1991)
