LOOK ON THE FLOOR (HYPNOTIC TANGO)

Facts speak for themselves: more hits than the Spice Girls, more albums sold than Atomic Kitten, more appearances in Band Aid than the Sugababes, they even appear in the Guinness Book Of Records as the biggest female group ever since the Supremes. But it’s not only what they did, it’s the way that they did it too.

In 2006 the Bananarama girls keep creating incredible moments in the pop world. This year is already being a very important one for Keren Woodward and Sara Dallin, in the middle of the turmoil of their hit-single “Look On The Floor”, and their new album “Drama”, with which they’ve achieved to be nš1 abroad (and, above all, in a good share of dancefloors all over the world).
It can be said, definitely, that they’ve come back. Although it would be fair to say that they never really went away.

Ever since their modest debut in the middle of the 80’s, until getting to achieve three Platinum albums and millions of copies sold of their Greatest Hits compilation, they now present the smash song “Look On The Floor”, that represents their best work in 15 years.

The Bananarama history defines itself as self-creative, anarchic and definitely modern.
In the past they turned down lucrative millionaire contracts with commercial brands – for example, Clarol – simply because they didn’t identify with the commercial tendencies of other artists of that moment, more avid for money than for a defined artistic life and without compromises. “Bananarama is a music band, not an advertising poster,” Sara got tired of saying. They still are: fresh, contemporary and irresistibly dancey with this great song (“Look On The Floor”) that maybe still reminds you of the 80’s but with a definitely modern flair. A song that fits like a glove to a group like Bananarama.

But most of this new work is due, in a big way, to their good instincts for identifying collaborators. Said instincts brought them this time to Sweden, to hit-making team Murlyn, known for their work with artists like Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez. The results are spectacular.

With the necessary independence to let ideas flow, Sara and Keren have never felt so young. “Writing now produces in me the same intoxicating tickle I felt when I was a teenager,” comments Keren with a smile. Recording with the Murlyn team in Sweden – in a huge mansion in the middle of a snow-covered forest - has demonstrated to be the perfect environment for the inspiration and talent of Sara and Keren.

Bananarama have never been known for following the rules. But, after almost 25 years, they return with one of their most solid works of their successful career. The quality of their songs is indisputable, proof of it is this song, “Look On The Floor”.

All you have ever desired, but nothing you could have expected.

Totally modern, totally pop, totally Bananarama.
